Hello fellow M users,

My Summicron 5cm f2 Collapsible lens (SOOIC, 1954) have a serious issue of coating and fungus.

See attached pictures...

I’m based in Berlin, looking for a trustworthy workshop in Germany for a CLA (Clean, Lubricate, Adjust.) service.

I would be very happy to have your any suggestion.

Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the quick reply, I also realised part of the coating is detached... not sure if any workshop can polish it?

Do you know any workshop in Germany? I would like to avoid an international shipping, because Covid-19 may make the shipping more complicate.

Thank you so much!

I bought a few items off ebay recently - I'm in the UK - and the only parcel ordered from abroad (from Germany) was quickest to arrive.

Alternatively try contacting your nearest Leica dealer, they often have 'local' repair techs for used equipment.

To be honest: if there isn't a lot of emotional value attached  to this lens it makes no sense to spent money on this .  If its only cleaning-ok, but if the coating is coming off... theoretically you can take off the coating, have it recoated. But that will not get rid off the fungus... and so on. Seems better to move on.

Thank you for the suggestion, I may not make a new coating and spend too much money on it, but I wish to use this beautiful lens again.

By the way, a workshop in Hamburg told me they can fix it, I will report the result and share you some picture in the coming future.

Very best.
