mirekti Posted April 30, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 30, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there. Is there any alternative app for iOS which can be used to download raw files from M10? I kind of don’t like the idea I’d need to pay $50 a year to transfer few raw files to my iPad as that’s the only function I’d need from the app and I’d only use it in certain, rare occasions. Right, that's so cheap from Leica. In the times when everything comes with a free app, Leica is charging for Wi-Fi transfer, hilarious. A very capable, very robust free app that allows for free wireless transfer of images both DNG and JPG as well as free camera remote and free image viewer from my iPad and iPhone. With the free Leica Fotos app, I am able to transfer my DNG files to my iPad for free and then with a few more clicks transfer to Lightroom CC App mobile for editing and then up to the adobe cloud. Very quick, very efficient. Leica Fotos App Pro however requires an annual fee. It includes full integration with LR CC Mobile and is specifically designed and fully integrated with the iPad OS therefore taking advantage of many of the iPadOS features. Personally, I don't need Fotos Pro as the Free Fotos app already works very well with my iPad and iPhone. You should give it a try. Its free 😎 2

When I tried it yesterday it wouldn't allow me to download the file, then I started free trial and it downloaded raw photo. Maybe I was doing something wrong. I'll wait for the trial Pro subscription to expire and try again in a week. Thank you. 1

Yes, there are two versions of the Leica Fotos app. Free version = https://us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-FOTOS-App-2.0/Leica-Foto Edit: This is where it may be confusing. You can use the Leica Fotos 2.0 app for free as is, once downloaded. There is no need to signup for the Leica FOTOS Pro Upgrade which is listed inside of the Leica Fotos 2.0 app unless you want those additional PRO features. Just open 2.0 on your device and connect to your camera using the "Connect to camera" menu. Then off you go with all those features I wrote about. nuc001 Posted May 11, 2020 Share #10 Posted May 11, 2020 I have Leica Fotos 2.0 and I cannot download DNGs from neither my Q2 or M10-P. I have read somewhere that if you had a previous version of Leica Fotos installed (I guess version 1.0 or some iteration), once you update the app to version 2.0, the app will still allow you to download both DNGs and JPEGs from your camera via Wifi. However if you are, like me, installed version 2 as a first time user, it will not let you download DNGs unless you pay 50USD a year for the privilege. I have since bought a Lighting SD card reader and forgotten about the app
PatrickN Posted May 11, 2020 Share #11 Posted May 11, 2020 I used version 1 of the app, but had issues with it, when my memory card contained more than 600 pictures. When version 2.0 was announced, I was optimistic, that it would solve the problems and I was looking forward to the iPad-optimised user interface. But having to pay 50 € per year after buying a camera system worth more than 10000 € is a bold move from Leica and I’m not willing to do this. Yes, since I have used version 1, I was still able to use the blown-up iPhone-version on the iPad, but that’s not what I bought the iPad for. Instead, I bought an SD card reader to transfer the photos directly into Lightroom and I could not be happier with this solution. I can select the photos for import on the large iPad screen, file transfer is much faster without any wifi-connection issues and it does not draw energy from the battery of the camera. Although the app looks quite cool, an SD card reader is much more efficient.
