raylamsk Posted August 11, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to buy a Elmarit. Because the lens can divide into 2 pieces, how can I check those 2 parts are original match from factory? Cheers, Ray

lct Posted August 11, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 11, 2006 I would like to buy a Elmarit. Because the lens can divide into 2 pieces, how can I check those 2 parts are original match from factory?... Do you mean the Elmarit 90/2.8 # 11129? If so there is no serial number on the mount if i remember well but only on the 'head'. So you cannot be sure that both are original match from factory. It is not that important though as the mount is only a focusing ring sort of with helicoidal ramp. The only optical part is the 'head'. Welcome, dear visitor! doubice Posted August 11, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 11, 2006 Actually, the focusing part of the mount should have the serial number written inside the barrel, by pencil. Unscrew the lens head and peak inside the barrel. For the really critical users, the mounts should be matched. LCT, if you check the side of the focusing mount, next to the distance scale, you will see two small numbers engraved. Those indicate the true focal length of your lens, thus the lens head should be matched to the focusing mount. Focusing cams were also handpolished, so the whole unit should really be as it left the factory. All the best, Jan
