John Z. Goriup Posted April 23, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I finished building a new bamboo flyrod a few days ago and yesterday, after ensuring the varnish was fully cured, walked to one of the ponds at our golf course next door to see how it casts and to smoke a cigar, something I am not permitted to do at home. The rod casts wonderfully and after a few casts with a random no-name fly tied to the end of my line, I actually hooked the largest blugill I have ever seen. Sadly, as large as this damned thing was, it was about a 1/2 inch short of being long enough to qualify for the state record..............but it was great to spend the early evening outdoors & to be removed from all the bad news. Naturally, I released him unharmed. D-Lux-4 JZG Welcome, dear visitor! For many years, on every trip to NYC the Urban Angler was an obligatory stop. This goes back to the time when they had a sweet old Golden Retriever sleeping on his blanket in the corner greeting every customer who walked in, even featured him in their catalog.
