chinarat Posted April 22, 2020 Share #1  Posted April 22, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I recently bought a black 11673 and a black MA. The first copy of the lens hood was tilted when screwed all the way in, so was the second copy (I bought through B&H). Is this a common problem? Thanks!  IMG_8203.HEIC

If so, I can probably get it repaired/replaced by Leica after this coronavirus craziness? Edited April 23, 2020 by chinarat

chasdfg Posted April 23, 2020 Share #5  Posted April 23, 2020 I have had this "issue" with both my 35 summilux and 28 summilux. The hood locks tight but it is not exactly horizontal (especially when compared to lines on the camera). It's bothersome cause it should be centred. I got over it though, but just letting you know it's "normal" though I never noticed it on my 28 Summicron v2. chinarat Posted April 23, 2020 Author Share #6 Â Posted April 23, 2020 yeah I read some threads here and other people are having the same problem. Oh well, as long as it doesn't affect the pictures IMG_8202.HEIC

a.noctilux Posted April 25, 2020 Share #13 Â Posted April 25, 2020 (edited) Maybe the filter ? Or when you feel some resistance, at the end when screwing, you can screw a small bit more. As I see here nothing to be worried about this so small tilt. I'm sure you will not see it in the final image (of the hood border). J.Nordvik Posted April 25, 2020 Share #17 Â Posted April 25, 2020 I am not impressed with the mechanical quality of this lens. I have had two 35mm Summarit, and they were better build. The optical quality can not be compared though. The 21 SEM is in another league.
