Hi Ladies and Gents,

Can't seem to find a firm answer on this question online so thought id ask here.

When using the 50DR, at normal range can you leave the glasses on or do they have to be off and then put back on when you want to close focus?

They have to be removed for normal range - an interlock prevents shifting to normal range unless you remove the goggles. Also, the goggles shift the rangefinder view in order to focus close-up, so normal range focus would be way off with the goggles in place.

Somni (Summicron 50mm DR) is one of the best conceived and complicated lens.

To prevent user for some "false use", Leitz had put on the system some "fool-proof" devices.

The add-on glasses can't be put on when the lens is in long range setting.

A ball on the lens prevents to put the SDPOO on.

When the lens is set in the close range (from 90cm to 48cm), the focus ring can't move without the Sdpoo on the lens.

When launched, a "prong" on the Sdpoo was there to prevent to unmount the lens when it's attached.

But now we see that the "prong" was filed down to be able to be used on taller M (since M6 TTL, and digital Ms ).

Have fun with this very nice lens.
