Advertisement Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Hi dkCambridgeshire, Take a look here DAG Frame-lighter accessory. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pgk Posted April 14, 2020 Share #2 Posted April 14, 2020 Looks a bit clunky to me. I'm sure that a keyring light could be modified with a hotshot fitting easily enough if really needed.
a.noctilux Posted April 14, 2020 Share #3 Posted April 14, 2020 Nicely done ! Thanks Dunk for this head-up. Looks like the end of x0.85 M RF patch fading when front light spot is in wrong place. I know that for years but never saw/thought in the illuminator for this usefulness in "no-RF-patch-fading-device" 😉.

If you look closely at his second VF pic, while the light clearly brightens the frame lines, there appears to be more flare in the focus patch. In fact, there are accessories designed to reduce focus patch flare, which typically results from bright sun, especially backlit situations... http://www.leicagoodies.com/shade.html Unfortunately, the frame lines potentially darken somewhat at the same time with this accessory. Don Goldberg (DAG) is a smart and helpful guy. You might contact him regarding his illuminating device, and your focus patch issue, to see what he says. He’s always helped me over the phone before proceeding with any repair or purchase. He also has email. Jeff Edited April 14, 2020 by Jeff S
a.noctilux Posted April 14, 2020 Share #5 Posted April 14, 2020 Jeff, thanks for your advice. I managed since long to live with those flare of M6 x0.85 (the MP x0.85 was long gone), now I use it less prefering M-A with no RF flare at all , excellent VF for 0.72, good job from Leica.
TomB_tx Posted April 14, 2020 Share #6 Posted April 14, 2020 FYI - DAG fixed the flare in my 1985 M6 a few years ago, doing both the flare fix and multicoated windows. A great improvement.
