Shootist Posted August 10, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 10, 2007 B&H has them in stock. It is the same hood and cap for the 35mm f/2 ASPH. I think it is about $30 for just the cap.

george + Posted August 10, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 10, 2007 Why bother? It is just in the way when you least want it. The filter covers the lens and, IMHO, the filter is well enough protected by the hood. Yes, I know, the old hoods looked more protective, but after initial bothering with the cover and then never knowing where I left it, I just do not bother any more. Shootist Posted August 10, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 10, 2007 You should get in the habit of putting the cap in your pants pocket, that's what I do with all lens/hood caps as soon as they come off the hood or lens. That way you don't loose them.

rwfreund Posted August 11, 2007 Share #8 Posted August 11, 2007 Keep the hood caps at home. put the lenses sans caps in the bag. Much less bother, and no need for my lenscap detection firmware enhancement request :-) -bob
trs Posted August 11, 2007 Share #9 Posted August 11, 2007 Happened to me, too. But, luckily I found it on the way back from hike where many people have stepped through. -tanka
Iron Flatline Posted August 15, 2007 Share #10 Posted August 15, 2007 There's a Leica Boutique here in Berlin, and I've been told (after losing mine) that it's been a popular item recently. Apparently many of us have enjoyed losing them. ...but yeah, leaving them at home might be a serious option. The hood and filter offer a lot of protection, I agree. Rona!d Posted August 15, 2007 Share #11 Posted August 15, 2007 The good thing is, that it sometimes comes back Lost mine several times and at really "lens cap"-dangerous crowded places - I still have the original one bought years ago with the 35cron. A Leica service man told me, that the old lens hoods hold the cap a little bit better. Happened to me, too. But, luckily I found it on the way back from hike where many people have stepped through. -tanka
