AdHox Posted April 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I added the Leica handgrip to my CL but I've been surprised at how flexible the grip is. The base seems quite solid, but there is definite movement at the top of the grip; it's just not as reassuringly solid as I expected. Is it just me? And then there's the finger loop, which I've never liked the look of, but I was persuaded to try. Actually quite nice, but how do you stop it from working loose from the grip? There shouldn't be any play in the Leica handgrip. I found the finger loops unworkable in any size. Avoid them unless your experience varies from mine. In contrast , I would not be without my handgrip. It adds essential security.
ruskkyle Posted April 5, 2020 Share #3 Posted April 5, 2020 Someone on here has talked about sticking a bit of felt between the grip & camera body, which tightens things up.
AdHox Posted April 5, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted April 5, 2020 Thanks 🙏 There is a surprising gap between the grip and the body. If I were remove the existing skin and replace it with a thicker leather then I'd probably appreciate the gap, but I never rarely re-skin my cameras while they're still within the warranty period. 😇 I'll need to work out what I can fill the gap with that will increase friction to stabilise the grip in use, while not making it too difficult to remove the grip when I need to swap battery &/or card. 🤔
jaapv Posted April 6, 2020 Share #5 Posted April 6, 2020 Yes, after reading your post, I tried the grip out and indeed it is possible to get it to flex slightly. Which is not surprising, as it is not integrated in the body. However, the amount of force needed bears no relationship to normal use; one really has to force it - and I mainly use it with a 1700 gram telezoom. Over the years, it is the first time I noticed. I would class it as a complete non-issue.

My CL handgrip has no play or movement.

It can happen.
