Edwin Ho Posted April 1, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I experienced difficulty in trying to update firmware from 1.202 to 1.210. Firmware was downloaded from Leica site. Upon completion of download, I was not able to open file. I received a pop-up: Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open M9-1_210 because it is either not supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment or it wasn't correctly coded. Appreciate advice what I should do next, thank you.
Advertisement Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Hi Edwin Ho, Take a look here M9 Firmware 1.210. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Soden Posted April 1, 2020 Share #2 Posted April 1, 2020 (edited) Don't open on your computer, copy it to the SD at the top directory. Insert card into your camera and start. When you downloaded the update, there was a document on how to install... follow its instructions. The M9 does not have acrobat installed... ianman Posted April 1, 2020 Share #3 Posted April 1, 2020 I don't know why Acrobat is involved here, except to open the instructions (pdf format) if you downloaded them. The firmware is a .upd file. Note that the latest M9 firmware version is 1.216 which includes support for the Thambar-M and Noctilux 75mm. So if you don't use those lenses 1.120 is fine.
Edwin Ho Posted April 2, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted April 2, 2020 Following advice from Soden, I have successfully updated firmware to 1.210, thank you. I have no need for version 1.216, so I shall leave it for now. BTW, what is the improvement of 1.210 over 1.202? I do have further questions for a suitable 35mm lens which I shall post it separately. The Summaron-M probably. There was the 1.204 between them which was never released publicly and only installed by Leica when a new sensor was installed. Your correct Ianman, I checked it out on the net, the Summaron 28 mm f/5.6 was added.
