For protection of the Schwetzingen palace garden from dripping oil and petrol, almost all vintage cars were parked on mats. It doesn't seem only a problem of little guys but also and more of seniors😀. Welcome, dear visitor! John Z. Goriup Posted April 17, 2020 Share #226 Posted April 17, 2020 I was tempted to start a new thread in the thechnology section and title it 'The Emperor has no clothes', but relented and settled for a different approach. I will give Lamborghini credit for a certain amount of courage to display this bare rolling chassis of their new Aventador model, but as time went on and the Aventador became on of the best-selling Lamborghinis models ever, I have come to view this daring display and their top-of-the-line as little more than a self-indulgent marketing exercise for VW AG. When one considers the base price of approx. US $400,000 + for this car, and then contemplates the materials and construction techniques evident in this display model, well, to me it comes up awfully short of delivering anywhere near good value for the money. John Z. Goriup Posted April 17, 2020 Share #227 Posted April 17, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) .................and the rear view of this daring display. Interesting and revealing, but upon closer study I find that the Gorilla storage racks, which I bought from Home Depot for use in my garage use similar materials and technology...........and they were about $85 bucks each. No wonder China and the middle East are the prime markets for this car. Incidentally, I think it's pure genius that they used the black of the sub-frames and the gray of the raw carbon fiber tub for this display, since the car almost appears to float in midair against the grass of the practice green in front of the Del Monte Lodge at Pebble Beach. Several friends of mine with cameras & lenses of other makes standing next to me took similar photos of this display, but none of them came close to capturing the three -dimensional glow the Leica combo did. m410 Posted April 18, 2020 Share #234 Posted April 18, 2020 Highway One just north of Ragged Point, California. A beautiful and enjoyable drive (except in a motorhome) especially when there are so few cars on the road. This photo was taken just prior to the C-19 stay at home order and when there were lots of cars/people out enjoying the view . M10 with 135mm F4 Tele-Elmar. Welcome, dear visitor!
