1957 or '58 (?) Cadillac Eldorado Brougham.  One of the sedans that looked like a coupe featuring a beautiful stainless steel roof.  I believe the body paint was lacquer that unfortunately shrank with time.   M240 with 35mm Summicron V4.

On a '65 registration plate. But that doesn't mean a lot.

Beautiful Muira - a car I have lusted after for many years (and will never fulfil, though I have sat in an 'S').  :)

Graham,

In that case you would have loved this Miura - the original Bob Wallace development mule, essentially the prototype Miura. A fellow cliub member bought it in deplorable condition directly from the factoryt in the '80s when Lamborghini was in financial trouble and spent years restoring it to original. As is the case with so many of prototype / concept cars, in my opinion the final product dioesn't look nearly as imaginative, fresh, well resolved and tidily turned out as this original Bertone / Gandini design. Take this Miura's headlights for instance,  versus the Mickey Mouse flip-up solution of the production Miuras with their silly 'eyebrows' - the comparison really shows what happens when manufacturers are forced to adopt their pure and frequently masterful designs to comply with antiquated, provincial vehicle codes of countries in which they must sell their vehicles in order to prosper and survive.

Another observation - bewitchingly beautiful with gorgeous lines, but really not a pleasant or exciting drive, not to mention the almost total lack of reliability, comfort & durability. Under 100-mile weekend runs such as the annual wine country visit when I shot this are pretty much the only thing for which this car is well suited.

That is lovely John.  And you are right about the headlamps.  There was just something about the lines of these cars that grabbed me as a child, and it's never left!

Reliability issues noted, but then most of the Italian supercars of the era onwards were the same.  For many years a Ferrari needed to have a support truck full of spares following along (allegedly!).  Italian motorcycle electrics fell into the same category.

Another high performance car on Boston streets that one Saturday morning.  Have you noticed that only Lambos seem to be able to get away with outrageous colors?
