Advertisement Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Hi advil, Take a look here A year with my M7 - Long term review video I just made. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mediumformula Posted March 30, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 30, 2020 (edited) Hey man, great review. I think the M7 is a cool camera and reasonably priced used compared to what a used MP costs. Regarding the shutter speed, they might not have been able to go up to 1/2000 due to the shutter curtain design. Also, I'm with you on just stopping down instead of using ND filters! Sweet cat. Also - how do you like the intrepid? I have a Wisner 4X5 that I picked up a few years ago and still learning large format. I'm hoping to shoot it more this summer when I have the time. Are you in NYC? Edited March 30, 2020 by mediumformula

Are you in NYC? Hey thanks for the kind words! The shutter design thing makes sense, but still a bummer in my opinion. They already redesigned the shutter to work electronically, it seems like an oversight... but what do I know about engineering a camera? I love the intredpid. It's a little flimsy, but for the price I really don't mind it. I have a great lens for it, a Rodenstock Sironar 150mm and it's very sharp. I have a few film holders to send out, hopefully this week. Not in NYC, though I'm there frequently as I live in Boston!
mediumformula Posted March 30, 2020 Share #4 Posted March 30, 2020 Yeah I also have a couple Rodenstock lenses. The 150 and 210mm. I mostly shoot Ektar 100 and T-Max 100. I've yet to get any of my negatives scanned. Hit me up if you come to NYC - after social distancing... I'm in Brooklyn. I used to live in Boston. Great city. Check out my insta - it's mostly film. I just sent out 8 rolls last week to get developed and scanned. Mostly photos of the apocalypse. You should eventually do a review of the Intrepid and the MP. colint544 Posted March 31, 2020 Share #6 Posted March 31, 2020 You make a great case for the M7. And your photographs are fantastic. Thanks for putting that up
Jon Warwick Posted April 2, 2020 Share #7 Posted April 2, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for your review, I really enjoyed it. My film usage these days also includes a Leica M7, and 5x4 (Walker Titan XL). My M7 was one of the first available, so it unfortunately it has the rangefinder flare + DX reader issue, and now the viewfinder framelines are gummed up and stuck for a 35mm focal length only .....so my M7 copy is rather overdue for a CLA in Germany after 19 years of ownership!

kinch123 Posted April 9, 2020 Share #9 Posted April 9, 2020 Great review and your room’s acoustics are pretty good too! The big question is how do you keep your cat from destroying those boots?
