Here's the glass schema of Fat Elmar : classic 4 element Elmar design quite similar to 35 - 50 - 135 ; unchanged for many years, with variations in lenses' curvatures and probably glass formulas ; "stripped" to 3 elements in the last series of Elmar 90.

Thanks : focus on spectacle border I'd say ... that's the kind of picture one can expect from a 90 years old lens : a pleasant softness Wide open or next... without playing hard with a Thambar... 😉

I could take out some pics taken with my Fat Elmar... it's probably a bit older than yours (no s/n and oldstyle writing "Elmar 1:4  F=9 cm") : same rendering, anyway, and a significant surge in sharpness at f8/16 (better to say.. f9/18.. 😉) but don't remember easily where are they... here's a salutation from my Elmars 90 (which found at once) : 😎
