IIRC, it's a Limited Edition in chrome finish made for Map Camera in Tokyo. Small numbers, most likely sold out. Worth asking Bellamy, though.

Its sibling the Apoqualia 35/1.4 (AFAIK the same lens except the finishing and other details, such as the focus tab) would be easier to find.

One of Miyazaki's finest lenses IMHO.

I hoped to like this lens but really couldn't after seeing a load of images Bellamy posted when it came out. At the apertures wider than ƒ5.6, chromatic & spherical aberrations galore as well as resolution/acuity no better than the ancient Nikkor 35/1.4 AIS. Seemed better suited for dreamy B&W images.

Suspect you can get similar or better results from the Voigtländer 1,4/35.

Yup. Different aesthetic perceptions. We've been there before, haven't we?

I suspect the TT Artisans 35/1.4 would be a better purchase as well, given how pleasantly surprised I have been at the build and image quality from their 21/1.5 in Leica M mount. The 35 is only £420 from Hamish at 35MMC in the UK.

Maybe. But it's two different beasts in terms of size/weight and image rendering (judging from the TT Artisans pictures I have seen on the web - I don't have one).

If you really do feel the need for one of Miyazaki San's idiosyncratic but tiny lenses, there is a replacement for the Reiroral 35, the New MS-Optics Apoqualia 35mm 1.4 F MC. This looks pretty similar to the limited edition (100 examples) Reiroral and might have better availability. As others have said, I would think Bellamy at Japan Camera Hunter is probably the best way to track down one of these lenses.

Similar with Vaseline applied on front glass. Better even with v1 as is :)

I’d rather pay for his 28/2. Awesome pancake.

I just bought this lens from Mapcamera but I’ve reluctantly decided to return it. I absolutely love how it renders, but the ergonomics are quirky, and I just bought a Summicron 8-element that handles much better. It’s too bad because I really wanted to keep this lens.

You could wait for Mapcamera to relist this item on eBay, or you might want to check out the silver Apoqualia on the FB Leica Exchange group right now:
