MLeica Posted March 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 5, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can someone help me in recommending a Magnifier for the Leica M10 body for the RF Viewfinder. Doctor said my focusing vision is fine, just old age and a magnifier would help composing the shot. I have seen the Leica ones which requires a adapter, and than their is Match Technical version's which have magnifiers only and also comes with a diopter adjustment, and finally I have seen on ebay, a company from China makes one specifically for the M10 thread and they are branded as Bresson's. Not sure if any of these will work, and by the way, I am trying to stay away from having to use the Visio on top too. I have been looking at alternatives and any help is much appreciated. onasj Posted March 5, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 5, 2020 I use the M10 thread adapter + the 1.25x Leica magnifier. Pros: better focusing, almost no image degradation. Cons: can't see 28 mm frame lines, can barely see 35 mm frame lines. Expensive.
MLeica Posted March 5, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted March 5, 2020 Ok, that is good to know that you are satisfied with the Image quality in viewing the RF. So you don't see any "haze" and a definite difference in composition of the photo
Jeff S Posted March 6, 2020 Share #4 Posted March 6, 2020 I have aging eyes and found that a +.5 diopter optimized my viewing. I use it in addition to my glasses, which otherwise correct for distance and astigmatism. I encourage you to test diopter strengths first, either at a dealer or using free trial diopters at a local optician. I did the latter. My 1.25x magnifier has been sitting in a drawer for years, as it reduces contrast and hinders viewing wider frame lines. Jeff
jakontil Posted March 6, 2020 Share #5 Posted March 6, 2020 I’m used with the magnifier and the contrast lens viewfinder in your case you probably better off with magnifier Magnifier is good if you need to make sure it is well focused on where it needs to be
MLeica Posted March 6, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted March 6, 2020 Thanks to all, I will head to the Leica Store this week end and test the magnifier. Its not horrible with the +1 diopter, but I do find under certain light conditions in the last few years, I spend more time Second guessing my focus, and years go, I could just focus quick and shoot. I had thought when I upgraded to the M10-P, it was going to be a huge difference, and did not find it was as good as my M3. Wish Leica made RF view finders nice and big and bright like the M3. Jeff S Posted March 6, 2020 Share #7 Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) As noted, I suggest trying diopters (including +.5) before testing a magnifier. The M10 VF is the best of those for digital Ms... higher magnification, larger diameter and better eye relief. And they make M10 diopters to fIt, without any adapter. MLeica Posted March 6, 2020 Author Share #8 Posted March 6, 2020 Jeff, Yes, agree, with a +1, I can see way better using the Leica OEM diopter that fits right in. So I will try the magnifier at the store, or just continue with the +1.0 Leica Diopter and realize that its the best I can get it to be... thanks!
