I was commissioned to make a promotional display for the theatre company. I was given carte blanche during final rehearsal to go anywhere on stage to get whatever I considered to be good photographs. The real challenge was low light levels, shooting film andf then processing, printing 30 A2 prints and delivering them 20 hours later for foyer display for opening night the following day. farnz Posted March 7, 2020 Share #5 Posted March 7, 2020 Thank goodness - I thought it might've been in Melbourne's red light district. 😇 Pete.

Multiple shots or all 30 the above? Either way, a pretty challenging task, especially with film, and I like the image you shared by the way!

Either way, a pretty challenging task, especially with film, and I like the image you shared by the way! Muliple shots. I typically shot 13 rolls of film during a two hour+ rehearsal. Typically, I would shoot two m6's and an M7 as the main camera. Then went home and processed the film before going to bed. Slept while film dried. Edited the next morning and then started printing. It was a marathon but I enjoyed the adrenalin rush it produced. I did this sort of exercise regularly for a number of theatrical outfits over the years. I do miss it now I am retired. 2
dkmoore Posted March 8, 2020 Share #8 Posted March 8, 2020 Awesome. Thanks for sharing. I’m impressed. I just started my film journey recently and haven’t processed my own film yet. while I do enjoy the anticipation of waiting to get the film back and scanned, I’d love to run my own developing workflow. You’ve been pumping out good content. Thanks.

You’ve been pumping out good content. Thanks. Doing your own dev workflow really is surprisingly easy. It's a bit like cooking. Standard process, but be prepared to vary it if according to taste. That applies to both colour and B&W BTW. The moderate expense of setting up basic gear is well worth while and the pleasure and satisfaction experienced is priceless. Give it a go. You will never look back. 1
dkmoore Posted March 8, 2020 Share #10 Posted March 8, 2020 I agree and believe I will be obsessed. The only reason I haven’t yet is a 6 and 4 year old creature running around and my fear of them somehow getting into the chemicals. Common sense should prevail. I’m hoping to give this a whirl this summer and try to build a mini dark room.
erl Posted March 8, 2020 Author Share #11 Posted March 8, 2020 I regularly had my 3 yr old grandson sitting in the darkroom washtrough pouring his own 'chemicals' (water) from one bottle to another because he wanted to do what I was doing. Somewhere, I have photos of him doing just that. If I can find them (easily) I will post them to inspire you. Turn it into an education. Kids learn faster than us! 😁 2
