Rob L Posted March 1, 2020 Share #1 Â Posted March 1, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since CV is on a roll with several great lenses for E Mount like the 21 f/1.4, 40 f/1.2, 50 f/1.2 Noktons and 50f/2 APO, not to mention the M Mount 75 f/1.5 Nokton. Does anybody have any insights as to whether these might be ported over to L Mount? I know the SL2 is not friendly to non Leica lenses as far as allowing for setting of the focal length so IBIS can work properly, so that seems to be a roadblock, but hopefully that will change soon. Even better would be a setup like Sony where full EXIF data is communicated from the lens.
Advertisement Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Hi Rob L, Take a look here Voigtlander for L Mount. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pmendelson Posted March 1, 2020 Share #2  Posted March 1, 2020 I just took delivery of their new 21mm f/1.4 for M mount and will be using it on my SLII and will report back with my impressions.  I wouldn’t hold my breath for L-mount versions (is anyone making manual focus lenses specifically for L-mount?)- if you are interested in these lenses I would suggest just using them in their M-mount versions with the adapter.  1
Rob L Posted March 1, 2020 Author Share #3 Â Posted March 1, 2020 Yes, that seems to be the case. I may jump on the 21 1.4 as well. And the 40 or 50 1.2. That would be enough with the cropability really. I have several M lenses, but most of them feel too small on the SL2. I also have a few Contax Yashica lenses. Archiver Posted March 4, 2020 Share #4 Â Posted March 4, 2020 There's talk that more companies will be joining the L mount alliance, and if Voigtlander is one of them, I'd be even more motivated to get into the L system. If the L system lacks anything, even in the roadmap, it's high quality but relatively compact manual focus lenses. Voigtlander can fill that gap easily. Cosina, through Voigtlander, already make lenses for M mount, Nikon F, micro four thirds and Sony E, so getting into L mount opens up another market for them. It should be possible to make a few small adjustment to existing E mount design lenses and bring them to L, without having to design lenses from the ground up like they did for micro four thirds. FlashGordonPhotography Posted May 23, 2020 Share #8 Â Posted May 23, 2020 I just use the M versions and code them using an old coder I had in a drawer. Then the IBIS works fine. Can't remember which code I used for my 50mm 1.2 but it was the one with the least corrections and it works great. On the S1R the camera asks you to set the focal length for unrecognised lenses for IBIS. Wish the Leica did that without the need for lens corrections. I only want IBIS data. Kyros Moutsouris Posted May 29, 2020 Share #9 Â Posted May 29, 2020 I'm hoping to see L-mount lenses by Voigtlander, as they do for E-mount...
caissa Posted June 2, 2020 Share #10  Posted June 2, 2020 The manual lenses are ok in M mount.  But if they construct new af lenses, then L mount would be interesting. But I think the numbers for L mount are still too small for Voigtländer.

FlashGordonPhotography Posted June 2, 2020 Share #12 Â Posted June 2, 2020 *If* Voigtlander made their lenses available in L mount I don't think I'd buy them. I'd choose M mount anyway. That's what I did when the E mount versions were available. Now I use those lenses on my SL2. The adaptability of M lenses is one of their attractions. Joakim Posted June 3, 2020 Share #13  Posted June 3, 2020 (edited) There are Voigtländer lenses that are only available for Sony FE and not for M, two that I would be very interested in if they became available in L mount are the 2 macro lenses 65mm and 110mm APO Lanthar Edited June 3, 2020 by Joakim
Simone_DF Posted June 4, 2020 Share #14 Â Posted June 4, 2020 The new SE line would be nice to have in L mount, especially at this price range https://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/voigtlander-announced-a-new-se-line-for-the-sony-e-mount-system/
caissa Posted June 24, 2020 Share #15 Â Posted June 24, 2020 Yes, their E lenses are interesting. And it would be nice if they would also get available in M or L mount, because the E lenses cannot be adapted to L. Â But their current M lenses or L lenses are not terribly useful for me. For example their APO50 is interesting, because I cannot afford the Leica APO50 for 8000 dollars. Or the macro 65mm.

On the SL2, when you use a CV lens, you can select the CV lens' Leica equivalent, and IBIS will work. Thus, for my 75/1.5 CV Nokton, when used on my SL2, I select in the SL2 Settings that I am using a 75/2 APO Leica M Lens. Thus, IBIS is turned on by the SL2. Also, the EXIF for the photos includes the use of a 75mm lens, and minimal distortion correction is applied (which can later be turned off in Lightroom). Just FYI here.
