intermediatic Posted February 25, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 25, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) The two features I would constantly use on my M10M are the focus aiding zoom for the Visoflex and EV compensation. But as “hardware” controls they are both selectable only by the thumb wheel so as I understand it only one can be active at the time. Is there anybody who has found a convenient workaround? All I have found is selecting EV from the rear screen, which is not so great. It seems to me like future firmware should be developed to allow the focus button the produce zoom. intermediatic Posted February 25, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted February 25, 2020 Ok now I am confused. Apparently I have the camera working the way I wanted to but this is the first time since I brought it home Friday that I can say that. Any idea as to why zoom wasn’t coming up for me? Focus Assistants were set to automatic.
davidmknoble Posted February 25, 2020 Share #3 Posted February 25, 2020 So, standard is for the focus button to use focus aid, per 45 of the EN instructions. I wonder if when you press the focus button using the visoflex then the thumbwheel defaults to zoom. It would make sense because then EV compensation is a mute point. After leaving focus aid, by pressing the shutter button, it would make sense the the thumbwheel reverts back to EV control. I'll have to try it on mine. Auto is just a faster way and goes to focus mode every time you adjust focus on the lens. The manual does also tell you how to set the thumbwheel for zoom, so maybe it is not automatically assigned. The factory settings don't indicate what the thumbwheel is set to do. So, here is my thought. The manual does not say that the thumbwheel cannot do more than one thing. It actually lists 5 things it can do. It may be that you activate the exposure compensation and zooming, and then it works at its respective time. That keeps the thumbwheel from accidentally changing the EV if you have it off. Curious. Nice post.
