I am looking for a camera bag or back pack for my CL and 5 lenses, a 23 Summicron, 55 7A, and some bigger ones, 11-16 f2.8 Tokina, 105 Micro Nikkor, and a 200 f4 Telyt. Going to Costa Rica and can envision uses for all the lenses. I also have a Manfroto Be Free tripod. I have a National Geographic back back, but it is lousy for getting at the camera and is heavy, my shoulder pack is a Domke, but it doesn't have a tripod holder, and I worry about rain with it. Just looking for suggestions, one part of our trip we are only allowed 2 bags, so it should have a little extra room

Having been traveling around Asia for 3 months now on a motorbike and can highly recommend Mindshift Photocross bags.

https://www.thinktankphoto.com/collections/mindshift-gear-sling-shoulder-bags

I’ve been using the Photocross 10 with a CL, TL23, TL18-56, DJI Mavic Pro 2 w/smart remote along with a number of filters, batteries, iPad Pro11” and other bits. Clothes in one backpack, everything else easily accessible in the Photocross with a Manfrotto  BeeFree tripod strapped on the outside, water bottle in the outer pouch.

Without the tripod, the bag is very low key and compact, meaning it’s not screaming “I’m a camera bag full of expensive gear!” What the point of having a compact camera only to have a big camera bag made for DSLR’s?

I cut off the waist strap that was stored in a little hidden pouch, instead I use that pouch for money and passport. No need for the waist strap, much more useful to have a hidden pocket when getting shaken down by the police. I have been caught a few times in heavy rains for hours without the rain cover and can attest to the “water resistant-ness” of the bag without the rain cover.  While it was damp inside after hours of rain with no cover, no issue with the gear, and with the rain cover it’s truly waterproof.

Before I left I contacted Midshift to get a few more dividers and they sent me some for free - excellent CS.

Have fun on your trip!

Check the numerous threads on this forum just by searching for “bags”. Suggest looking at Peak’s 10L Sling.

i concur with this recommendation. the peak system is pretty slick and the bag might be the gateway drug to their slings and straps. :)

my only complaint with the bags is that when you set them down using the strap, the center of gravity is on the bottom edge, not the flat of the bottom.

The Peak Design 10L sling is excellent, but I find I prefer the Wotancraft Easy Rider and use it much more when carrying a largish kit like that. It is capacious and can carry a massive amount of kit when fully expanded, is easy to get gear in and out of, and has this nice compression feature that allows it to snug down to a smaller size when the full capacity isn't needed. The bottom is flat, it has a removable padded protective camera section so you can pull out all the camera gear as a piece and use it to carry other stuff for a day trip if you're so inclined. Once you get the strap and stay strap adjusted to fit you properly, it is extremely comfortable and you can walk for hours even with a heavy load in it, hardly noticing it's there. Beautiful build quality too.

Expensive, but a great bag.
