Stevejack Posted February 20, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Guys, Heading out on a photo walk tonight after work and just had a call that my M10-M is ready to collect. I'll swing by and pick it up on the way, but the problem is I won't have the chance to charge the battery up like I normally would. Hopefully I get lucky and there's a decent amount of charge already on the battery, but even if this is the case, is there still the old requirement of fully charging a battery to 100% before first use? Pretty sure that hasn't been the case for a while now with most battery tech, but not sure with the Leica batteries....?

a.noctilux Posted February 20, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 20, 2020 Hello, Steve, you may download the manual from Leica website. Plenty of things to know inside. Concerning battery, if it's partial loaded when you receive, you can use it then charge it after use. Anyway, a couple of charges are required to make the full capacity of the new battery. Good idea also to have one spare battery as M10 battery is smaller than older Ms .

Thanks, I ended up collecting it at lunch and put the battery on charge. The battery was pretty low, only showing 80% by the time I left. I ended up getting 1.5hrs of shooting time but it will be interesting to see how it lasts on a full charge. Definitely needing at least one spare. Thanks for your help,
Ken Abrahams Posted February 21, 2020 Share #5 Posted February 21, 2020 Good to see another M10M user in my local area Steve When I ordered the camera I asked for another battery taking into account my experience with other Leica cameras. I had received the M10M (three weeks ago) and two batteries with zero charge. I could only wait thirty minutes charge time for some signs of life, I was too excited. The battery use isn't too bad with M10M, I turn previews off which helps. The MM1 battery use is phenomenal compared to anything else I have used. Likewise Ken, I saw some of your Freo images the other day and wondered if I would run into you down there sometime. While it's been hot, I tend to go there after work to catch the sunset... at least 4-5 degrees cooler out that way than the inner suburbs! I'm hoping I can get another battery shortly. I thought I might be able to make do, but one is definitely not enough. I was running pretty low after only 1.5 hours (reasonably heavy use - no image review, but some live-view testing). If I had a tripod mount I would have probably shot some more after dark, but I doubt the battery would have had much more than 30 minutes left in it. Very likely just that I was messing with the menu / live view etc more than I would for general use. My M262 seemed to go on forever but that was a pretty simple camera in comparison.
