Schittra Posted February 11, 2020 Share #1 Â Posted February 11, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I see many photo of Leica M were taken by 35mm or 50mm. I was a long-term user of Contax Plannar 85/1.4. So I decided to buy Summicron 75/2 for portrait. I wonder if you can share me some photo from 75/2 to get some thought and appreciation? I will try out this weekend and want to get some shots too. Thanks.

elgenper Posted February 11, 2020 Share #2  Posted February 11, 2020 Well, after saying that one can´t really evaluate a lens from a few samples on a computer screen, here are a few.  Just telling you it is a remarkable lens! adan Posted February 12, 2020 Share #5  Posted February 12, 2020 From a different approach (M10, B&W conversions): The signature of the 75 APO-Summicron is extreme resolution at f/2, coupled with a very rapid fall-off in sharpness either side of the focus plane (minimal spherical aberration to produce wider "almost sharp" transition zones.) Sometimes I find 75mm to be a bit short for portraits (depends on the shape of the face) so I mix-and-match it with a 90mm for some subjects. OTOH, that "wider perspective" often adds more 3D effect. Kwesi Posted February 13, 2020 Share #8 Â Posted February 13, 2020 Wonderful lens. Incredibly difficult to focus consistently on the M24X platform. Exactly.  Personally, I prefer the impression of "closeness" in a 75 portrait to, say 90 or 135.  When using a Hasselblad, I chose the 120 in preference to the 150 for that very reason.
Schittra Posted February 15, 2020 Author Share #12  Posted February 15, 2020 Just try out 75mm with my son today in Jakarta. Quite good detail at wide open, around f4 for the entrance photo. Welcome, dear visitor! :hinting image Posted February 15, 2020 Share #14  Posted February 15, 2020 I don't use the 75mm much until recently. It is handled better on the SL2. Welcome, dear visitor! mikeamosau Posted February 19, 2020 Share #15  Posted February 19, 2020 One crazy sharp lens with beautiful color rendition. Super hard to focus, mine was slightly back focusing when bought new, so Leica NJ calibrated it for me for free.  The more I use this lens, the more I love it.  Mike www.photobasecamp.com  Welcome, dear visitor!
