  1. My 35mm Summilux v2 is my best lens in terms of color rendition, imo.
  2. Same mysterious behavior happens with my 50mm Summilux v3,. In the image, the sky was overcast, so no direct sunlight source was to be avoided. I used to own both lenses. They flare differently. This image and the image provided by evikne, to me, exemplify the flare created by the Summilux. As for my Summicron, I think it hates the situation in which a light source is near the frame. It flares so easily and badly so that I sold it and never regret. Apart from its lovely rendering when it behaves, maybe I keep the Summilux because I also own 50mm Summilux ASPH (my copy is extremely go

  6. I have owned 50mm Summilux ASPH and 50mm Summicron v5. I feel that there might be something wrong with your Summilux in the flare department. My observation is that my Summilux does not flare easily (or to translate from my feeling, I almost want to say that my Summilux cannot flare.) My Summicron v5, on the other hand, tends to flare a lot. Other than this difference from my observation, I must say that this looks to be a well done research. Interesting read and thank you for your afford.

    Lens crisis

I am in your shoes😅. I have 50 Summilux v3 and ASPH. I can't decide which one to keep because of the same reason as yours. To OP, I would sell all the 50mm and settle for a Summilux because: I don't care about the APO (it's no better in IQ at F1.4,) and I find that Noctiluxes are too big on my palm. As evikne argues, 50 Summilux pre-ASPH draws similarly to Noctilux pre-ASPH, I would also add that 50 Summilux ASPH draws very similarly to the 0.95.
  9. If you shoot color, especially jpeg, I would skip the 0.95 because it tends to produce purple color around the highlight. I used to own it and like it, but both ASPH Noctiluxes are too heavy for Leica M, imo. You might feel the same after the itch for Noctilux alleviates; many people have gone through this symptom, so if you're like me, (I sold my kidney to buy it) I would suggest you buy a used copy.
