Ah, sorry. Her name is Jean. 🙂Quite an accomplished shooter, actually.

Thanks, reminded me of a disabled war vet (lost leg) I knew long ago, who spent a lot of casual time at the tables in Madison, mostly because few could beat him.

I've undoubtedly seen him. We only have one high quality pool hall here and I've spent a lot of time there.

This was 1972-77, at a bar/hall on State St, I think.  I remember quarters lined up on the tables for the next informal challenge.

That would probably be Dewey's, owned by Dewey Weum--a big time gambler who won several hundred thousand playing Texas Hold-em in Las Vegas. He's still around but not in good health. I know him pretty well.

I think back then there was also Cue-nique Billards (upstairs from DJ’s bar?). I don’t remember where my friend hung out.

Sorry to others for the OT

Yes, Cue-Nique was a great pool hall and I spent a lot of time shooting there--mostly a game called one-pocket. The original owner was Jerry Briesath, a longtime friend, who is considered the best living pool teacher today. He's in the Billiards Hall of Fame. Cue-Nique has been demolished, along with everything else on that block, and replaced with high rise apartments.

I don't have any problem with the OT - I'm finding the history of an activity I don't do in a place I don't know surprisingly interesting!

It’s OK if it doesn’t fill a whole page. And in fact, there’s the possibility of mailing a forum member, this gives you more freedom to expand on a theme for yourself too.

Of course, after 16 years I’ve had many private conversations with members, often responding over time to printing questions and such. Brent and I have similarly communicated offline.

Just got lazy here. If you want to discuss more, PM me; are we at a page yet?  🤪

Apo Summicron M 90 Asph - I cant think of a better pastime than working the black and white tonal balance from an M10M file.

I do: making a wet print from an ADOX CHS ii negative on Rollei FB 111 paper 😉 😀

Well that does sound good. In my film days it was RE2475 or Recording film that I loved and used extensively for theatre work, specialised portraits and always had stock in the fridge. Either way working with B+W tonal range is the over arching thing 😀
