What are the best lenses for the sl2 that aren't leica lenses

What lenses would you guys reccomend for this camera that arent leica lenses

I quite like the Sigma 45mm f/2.8.  It does not have the same performance as Leica glass but it is wonderfully light and compact as a walk around lens.  I actually purchased it because so many people on this forum raved about it for that purpose and have not been disappointed at all.  The SL2 really needed a versatile small lens like this.

If you get yourself the MC21 you can go crazy. Otus. Art. Milvus. Canon tilt shift lenses are all great if you want movements. Then there's the Canon super teles.....

Get the R, M and S adaptors and you have a vast array of lenses from tiny to enormous. The S lenses are special. M lenses are tiny. R lenses will surprise you.

In L glass the Sigma 14-24 is very very good. SO is the 50mm Panasonic. The Sigma 45 is the tiny street lens Leica should have made. All the SIgma Art lenses are in L mount. The 85 and 105 are unbelievable. 

L mount offers a vast array of options. Too many to list.

The Sigma 45 is a completely worthy lens for the SL2. High contrast, focuses pretty quickly and perfectly decent bokeh.

If you can deal with the heft, I find I'm quite happy with the Sigma 135mm.  I have the Pano 16-35 on order which is schedule to ship any day now. It's an S Pro lens, so 'blessed' by Leica. The limited sample images I've seen looks to be quite good.

It depends simply on your taste. There are no “bad” lenses in the L-mount selection. They are all newly computed (there are no lemons anymore). And you can also adapt foreign lenses with ease, like T/S lenses. 

Entirely depends on your usage.    (Choose from hundreds.). Without specifying your usage, and your preferences an answer makes no sense.

I compliment my SL 24-90 with the Sigma 35 1.2 Art and 105 1.4 Art (used with Novoflex Nikon AF adapter).  The uniquely fast 35 and 105 are spectacular for portraits on my SL.  The 35 1.2 Art is mirrorless-only in design for L and E mount.  The 105 1.4 Art (DSLR design) has just been released in L mount.

Choice is dependent entirely on your needs and budget.
