Jaap, the Selphie is popular with photo-travellers because it is so small and portable. Would it still be your printer of choice for family pictures even if you did not travel so much? I used to use an Epson Photo R800 but found that I was constantly cleaning the print heads with costly ink. Changed to a continuous ink flow system and still had that problem Is there a better solution for printing modest size family pictures at home? Advertisement Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Hi wda, Take a look here Canon Selphy printer (split thread). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 10, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2020 The Selphy is perfect for casual use at home. If you need a quick postcard sized print it is fast, takes SD cards, offers a few basic editing settings which I don’t use at home of course , WiFi, no ink wastage, and excellent IQ. The printer resizing is excellent as well For travel I have a battery for it.

jaapv Posted January 10, 2020 Share #4 Posted January 10, 2020 I think they all operate the same way with the same image quality. Mine is the CP 1300 WiFi. The paper is a bit pricey, but, on the other hand, you have no costs for ink as it is a dye sublimation printer.
Siriusone59 Posted January 10, 2020 Share #5 Posted January 10, 2020 I also use the cp 1300, fantastic little printer for postcard size prints. Shopping around a bit, I've found that consumables run around 30 cents. Perfect for when family and friends want a print.

My first searches indicate that buying a 1300 printer bundle with ink and paper is challenging. It is fairly easy to buy a printer, less easy to buy Canon consumables in the UK from the bigger retailers. Could it be the end of the line for this range? What about 3rd party alternatives for consumables?
jaapv Posted January 11, 2020 Share #10 Posted January 11, 2020 https://www.amazon.com/Canon-KP-36IP-Sheets-Selphy-Printers/dp/B00C7LPC0I https://www.cartridgeink.co.uk/original-canon-kp-36ip-colour-ink-and-paper-pack.html https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cameras-and-camcorders/photography-accessories/camera-accessories/canon-kp-36ip-ink-paper-set-07761735-pdt.html https://www.staples.com/Canon-KP-36IP-Black-and-Color-Ink-Cartridge-Card-Kit-7739A001/product_491101 And dozens more... There are third-party ones, it seems, but I never bothered. Were you looking for ink cartridges maybe? They don't exist; it is not an inkjet printer. The printer-specific paper comes with the dye foil cartridge included. There are normal, post-card pre-printed back and credit card sized paper packs availble, both in 36 packs or bulk packs.
wda Posted January 11, 2020 Author Share #11 Posted January 11, 2020 (edited) Jaap, thank you for your help. It seems that consumables are common throughout the Selphy range of printers. Not a safe assumption. I have now found a supplier of both items I need. Just ordering from John Lewis. Edited January 11, 2020 by wda

yukitmpmkry Posted March 2, 2022 Share #13 Posted March 2, 2022 Hello. Usually I scan my 35mm photos and view them on phone, ipad, but I was thinking recently about doing prints.Wondering if this printer is worth it? The postcard size would be sufficient for my needs. But maybe it's worth saving the cost and just viewing digitally, or printing off SD card at store kiosks.Opinions?
jaapv Posted March 2, 2022 Share #14 Posted March 2, 2022 The printer gives high-quality prints off an SD card as well. It will certainly exceed the quality you will find in supermarket service counters. And you can print at home.
