Jrek Posted January 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, The LCD display on my Leica Q has cracked. Leica Store Mayfair quoted £250 for repair. Anyone knows if any other place in UK would be able to do it cheaper? I've found new screen and would be willing to replace it myself as I have experience in electronic components but I have no way of replacing the leather skin cover. From what I read it cannot be removed and then re applied as it gets destroyed during removal process. Thanks

zampelis Posted January 6, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2020 In case you bite the bullet and you do it by yourself: https://artedimano.com/Leicaskin/?idx=141 It is pretty expensive though, so I am not sure whether you will save any money by replacing it yourself. On the other hand you can end up with some pretty fancy leather skin!

jaapv Posted January 6, 2020 Share #4 Posted January 6, 2020 Are you sure you can do this, you probably have to take half the camera apart to get at the LCD. I am pretty handy, but I would not risk bricking a 4000 GBP camera for the sake of saving 200 quid... Also, if you have to remove the sensor unit you may have to recalibrate the camera optically.Do you have laser-interference measuring equipment to do so? jaapv Posted November 4, 2022 Share #5 Posted November 4, 2022 There is none at all except Leica. Actually £250 is quite reasonable, given that the camera has to be dismantled to replace the LCD.

I remember when our repair tech woul be livid when people brought in a baggie of camera parts. They thought they could fix it themselves…no problem taking it apart…but couldn’t get it back together. Cost them way more than if they’d just brought it in to begin with.
