The Antarctica Treaty has been doing a great job last few many decades including ban on depositing ANY rubbish on the continent. Or ANY liquids into the waters.  Rules for tourist ships are very strict.

I was a visitor for a week in 2002 and thought it looked pristine.

But as you say we must remain vigilant to keep this wilderness.
