frame-it Posted January 4, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 4, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) interesting video...anyone tried it ? https://www.instagram.com/p/B6r25L8HTk8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link "The Leica SL2 uses Bluetooth and Wifi to remotely capture and shoot even when the power is off. First, turn on Bluetooth and Remote Wakeup in the Leica Fotos menu and pair in Leica Fotos on mobile. In this state, even when the camera is turned off, the low power Bluetooth function is maintained so that the SL2 can be powered on. After the power is turned on, you can shoot remotely while watching the screen via Wifi connection automatically." Advertisement Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Hi frame-it, Take a look here SL2 Remote Startup ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
scott kirkpatrick Posted January 4, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 4, 2020 It all seems to work. I connected to my SL2 using FOTOS 2.0.2 on my iPad. Tested remote was working. One failing -- I couldn't initiate focus magnification from FOTOS, only from the camera. Disconnected. Switched off the camera with the ON/OFF switch. Shut down FOTOS and checked that the camera wifi frequency was not heard. Started FOTOS again and linked to the camera, and it woke up with the switch indicating OFF. Operations normal. When I disconnected, the camera turned off again in a few seconds.
jrp Posted January 4, 2020 Share #3 Posted January 4, 2020 Yeah, the remote interactions of the SL2 are primitive. No doubt Leica would blame this on the IOS or Android APIs but that is not an excuse.
scott kirkpatrick Posted January 4, 2020 Share #4 Posted January 4, 2020 It's not Android or iOS limitations. Leica is just proceeding very slowly. Many of the functions we would like to see are done already in other cameras. Panasonic Lumix is the example I am familiar with.
