leica dream Posted August 5, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted August 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am still getting to grips with my new VLUX-1 and notice that on the program dial there is an A embodied in a camera logo (between SCN and the playback symbol). The early part of the handbook just says, rather abruptly, "this is for beginners"! I do not understand how that function differs from just using the standard P/AE program unless a full explanation is embedded much later in the manual apart from stating the settings it uses.. Does anyone have experience and can explain? Richard
Advertisement Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Hi leica dream, Take a look here VLUX1 Program dial "Beginners" setting. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted August 5, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted August 5, 2007 It's probably a full automatic, point it and shoot it, program, where the camera adjusts the aperture and the shutter speed.
hsw Posted August 5, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted August 5, 2007 Richard, Â The Program/AE setting works on an algorithm within which the f-stop and shutter speed combinations can be adjusted by use of the thumb-wheel (or index wheel if you set them up that way). The "A" setting is truly point and shoot. Â Regards, Henry
leica dream Posted August 6, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted August 6, 2007 Thanks, Andy and Henry, that explains everything and I now understand. There is so much in the instruction book that it will take some time to be able to link features in practical experience, but the first step MUST be to understand.....trying to get there by parrot learning will almost certainly lead to long term failure!
