Tailwagger Posted December 7, 2019 Share #1  Posted December 7, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just ran into my first scary issue with the SL2. Up to this point I had only used coded and Native lenses. This morning I decided to test out the Zeiss Distagon and ran into a couple of problems including locking up the camera. When I mounted the lens and turned it on, I was surprised I was not greeted with the Manual lens menu. Fine, so I bring up the menu, attempt to set the lens to one of the Summilux 35s, and nothing takes. Tried several times, but nada. Fine, says I, I shoot a few frames. Copy them off. Try taking a few more, agains, still can't set the lens, but okay. Shot a few more. Turn the camera off. Doesnt go off. The switch is off the camera is on and now totally locked up. No VF, no menus nothing. Pull the battery. Replace it, turn on and the camera is still fully locked up. Pulled the battery, mounted the SL-75, replaced the battery turned back on and thankfully, the camera now seems fully functional again. Wondering if anyone else has seen anything similar with uncoded M optics?

digitalfx Posted December 7, 2019 Share #4 Â Posted December 7, 2019 all of my lenses are coded, so I cant help...but I would make sure the Adapter and lens were fully seated. Ive seen weird issues when the adapter was fully locked.
BlackDoc Posted December 7, 2019 Share #5  Posted December 7, 2019 The not fully locked adapter might be a good reason.  I have adapted all kinds of lenses ( coded M and not coded M, but also R, Pentax K Mount, Canon Mount and M42) to the SL-2 and had no trouble.

Possibility, I suppose, but I'm pretty careful about such things, as I once lost a lens to an adapter that wasn't fully locked down on both ends. If I see the problem again I'll report back.

Wondering if anyone else has seen anything similar with uncoded M optics?  I'm shooting a calendar and to me it happened that the camera went black and dead a couple of times also while I was using prime Leica SL lenses. Not a big deal, I turned the camera off and on, and everything got fixed. Maybe it depended that I was using a radio trigger on it… Who knows? Typical bugs of firsts firmwares I would guess.
