I learned, that bush fires were quite normal in Australia formerly. The plants/trees are accustomed to fire, some semen need fire to grow. But the climate seems to change too fast.

southern Sydney, this morning my car was covered in ash, there are fires north south and west of the city, no rain predicted for many more days. there is no grass left at all parks in my area, its just dust.

Well, I'd like to send all our NSW friends my very best wishes that this hell will be brought under control very soon and that you will all be safe.

What jankap says is true, of course, but as Mark commented - not like these fires. There is now a concentration of human habitation in those areas that, hundreds or thousands of years ago would have been sparsely inhabited - and then by people who were largely able and used to moving between different areas. And of course climate change makes things far, far more dangerous and extreme. The loss of life - not even to mention of the flora and fauna that is wiped out - is catastrophic.

Be safe.
