mirekti Posted December 2, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 2, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there anyone here who uses Leica M glass with M-adapter L on Panasonic S series? I wondered if the EXIF data is transferred or not. I understand the profiles would only be available on SL and M cameras, but what about basic Lens info (possible aperture too)? Advertisement Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Hi mirekti, Take a look here Leica M-adapter L with Panasonic S series. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jankap Posted December 2, 2019 Share #2 Posted December 2, 2019 Aperture is manually handled on M-lenses. No chance.

On M-cameras there is a small window right of the left distance window. It measures the general situation of the incoming light. Herewith a guess of the f-stop is estimated. The SL does not need this window, because SL lenses deliver the f-stop. The adapter cannot deliver this estimation.

The questions still remains whether Leica M-adapter L would transfer EXIF data to Panasonic S series so one at least knows what lens was used.
jankap Posted December 2, 2019 Share #6 Posted December 2, 2019 You mean the focal length. Have you seen the table of the Leica lens codes? Look for "Leica-lens-codes". The codes are not even lined up for the focal lengths. That was not the intention in 2008. The database in the SL knows the codes, I suppose. But I don't think, that Panasonic and Sigma are interested to support these lenses, they want to sell their own stuff.

On the right side of the front there is a small window: active emitting light for the selftimer and the AF help light, and passive to measure the incoming light, I think for the AF help light only. jrp Posted December 6, 2019 Share #9 Posted December 6, 2019 The S1/R doesn't seem to interpret the 6-bit codes from the M-adapter, as you always need to set the focal length for IBIS manually after changing lenses.
