rsmphoto Posted December 14, 2019 Share #21  Posted December 14, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Martin, it was a very rare and random occurrence I’ll admit, but once the SD card was out I never had an issue. Would be nice if that was the fix. Fingers crossed. I’ll have an SL2 Monday, and I have a shoot scheduled next Friday. I’ll test mine then as well. I see the SL2 as a great addition to my S007.....if it can tether reliably. Richard

Greg Gray Posted December 15, 2019 Share #22  Posted December 15, 2019 I'm unable to see may camera on my mac book pro using the image shuttle for SL2. not sure whats up, but i did see that capture one alerted everyone not to do the latest Catalina update this week as it was effecting their tethering. perhaps the same problem has befallen the Leica image shuffle? Anyone have any suggestions? Greg Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! albireo_double Posted December 15, 2019 Share #24  Posted December 15, 2019 My problems (tethering the SL2 into LR via Leica Tethered Plugin 2) were with MacOS 10.15.1. I understand the C1 tethering problems affect only 10.15.2. I have not updated the OS on my laptop for this reason and C1 was working well today for me (with an IQ3 100 back on a Phase One XF camera), so I guess this was not the fundamental reason behind my tethering issues with LR and SL2 (after all, the tethering worked for about 100 shots and then disconnected and could not connect again). I will try again with a TetherTools cable (the one I used was a no-name 3 m USB-C to USB-C cable from Amazon).
Greg Gray Posted December 20, 2019 Share #25  Posted December 20, 2019 Just a tethering update. Leica has been experiencing problems with their SL2 tether app running on the Mac OS 10.15.2, They sent me an older SL Image shuttle 3.7.3 to download. This works on the new software. You may have to dodge some security precautions from the mac, but eventually i installed it and works as on an SL.
rsmphoto Posted December 20, 2019 Share #26  Posted December 20, 2019 Just finished a tethered shoot with the SL2 using MacBook Pro running Mojave 10.14.6 and LIS for SL2. 120 shots, pretty much flawless operation. TetherTools cable worked well, AND the camera never needed a new battery (stayed at 100% entire shoot) as it was simultaneously getting power through the USB-C from the MBP which was itself plugged into a power source. Finally, a great back up and alternative to my S007 system. All is good. Richard

While I've not heard definitively, and this is anecdotal, while shooting tethered I've noticed that this may indeed be the case. I recently shot a short 4 hour job tethered with MBP plugged in to AC and experienced little to no battery drain. I have a full day's shoot approaching (all tethered), and I'll pay closer attention. Thanks for the information.  I just ordered a USB-C to USB-A (male to male) cable from TetherTools; on their web site it specifies the cable is not suitable for charging cameras.  TetherTools makes what I consider to be some of the best cables available.  If anyone has suggestions on alternative cables I would like to know.  Thanks
rsmphoto Posted January 9, 2020 Share #33 Â Posted January 9, 2020 Ah, I'm using USB-C to USB-C with the MBP. That may well make a difference.
rsmphoto Posted January 15, 2020 Share #34 Â Posted January 15, 2020 (edited) Using a USB-C to USB-C cable the answer is yes. The SL2 appears to receive power through the cable at the same time as shooting tethered. I used the SL2 for an entire 8 hour day today shooting tethered and finished the day with 100% power in the battery. Not all USB-C cables support charging, and the watts they can transmit vary. Check the specs of the cable you plan to use.
