EVF is still unacceptably poor in MAG mode. Shooting at 120, using JPG... all still poor. Ridiculous for a camera optimized for M glass... You don't even have an SL2. How do you know? You keeping yours?? Keeping mine because it feels so nice, is gorgeous and produces incredible files for a FF camera. Keeping the S1 for now, too. The a7R III was the low light option in situations that required high ISO and fast shutter speed before. With the L-mount alliance, no need for Sony’s high ISO performance anymore. The S1 and the Sigma fp use a Sony sensor and take Leica lenses. 😀 I will most likely get rid of the S1 and get an fp instead. They use the same sensor. The fp doesn’t have IBIS but I would only use it with high ISO AND fast shutter speed anyway. Hence, no need for IBIS in the Sigma fp.

S1 for HIGH ISO... S1R or SL2 for high resolution. Nice to have choices for sure. I don't need two FF bodies though... have the Q2.

You're welcome to express your opinions and complaints, I express my regularly. I thought you owned an SL2 and were reporting first hand knowledge. I agree that the EVF has some issues...but focusing with 4x is the least of them. I have no issues obtaining critical focus quickly with the focus aid enabled. The reason the 4x display is not perfectly sharp is that the image is magnified 4X and presented full screen. Its not possible for it to look as sharp as the 1x view unless the window is scaled back or a much higher res display is used. I could be wrong, but doesn't the Sony only display a smaller image at 4x? which would explain why it appears sharper.

Not sure why you are so angry. Apparently to be credible, I need thousands of posts and all must be positive towards Leica. I have no bias in this and simply shot pictures with my iphone through the EVF's using the same lens attached to each. I did this because I thought that people who don't have an SL2, S1R and A9 in hand, might be interested in what I was seeing. I know that I appreciate when others post this type of anecdotal experience. I own many Leica products and I am a huge fan but without constructive criticism how do you expect them to get better? There were many issues with the Q1 at launch and they listened to feedback and made improvements in firmware. For general purpose and occasional MF work, the SL2 is fine, especially if you are close to your subject. The challenge arises when you need higher magnification to achieve critical focus. Other cameras with lower EVF specs perform better in this regard. You sounds very passionate and confident about the SL2 so I am assuming you own one. Please take it to your local camera store and pickup a Nikon Z6/Z7, Sony A9,R4,R3,A3 or Canon EOS R and select 9X magnification on each camera. Your eyes will not deceive you, at some distances the SL2 will be so wormy and pixelated you won't be able to ensure critical focus yet all other cameras will display a clear image.
