Since the manual isn't available, yet, the only thing I can add is that when the 24-90 is mounted and stabilisation is turned on, the white 'shaking hands symbol' changes to a white 'shaking camera symbol'. scott kirkpatrick Posted November 21, 2019 Share #3 Posted November 21, 2019 (edited) Neither the QuickStart guide nor the 220 page manual has a picture showing what all the icons that might appear on the Rear LCD will mean. (At least I haven't found them.) The instructions for image stabilization just say you can have OFF or ON. I suspect that if the SL2 knows there is OIS (at least on a Leica lens) it will use it as well as IBIS. But this requires experiment. There is a control that selects whether or not panning is to be detected (so that the stabilization will not fight against the pan). It's options (just like in the S1) are (1) full stabilization, (2) detect panning automatically in any direction, (3) assume a horizontal pan, (4) assume a vertical pan. It should appear on the top right of the LCD (maybe also the EVF) screen when in picture recording mode. There is a page on image stabilization in the manual (page 92 in the English) but no illustration. Since the examples in this forum show no icon/hands shaking/camera shaking, the question is what is the difference between the two icons. The obvious experiments -- connect an SL summicron (no OIS) and compare with what you see with the 24-90. Then connect one of the Panasonic zooms with OIS, and use the button on the lens collar to switch it on and off. Report the results...
