Ferrari built three series of five cars each of this model during the years the 'Daytona' was in production. A big, fast and ballsy car, it required a firm hand to get the best & most out of it, but won a number of important races during a time when Ferrari was really struggling with his preferred form of racing, namely F-1. This model represents the last of the Enzo-era front-engined V-12 berlinettas.

Do you by any chance have a photo of a 365GTB/4  convertible with the top down? I remember seeing 1 in 1965.

Thank you, Michael. I have two photos of known, genuine 'Daytona' Spyder, but both have their tops up.....don't have any with top down.

Of the 1405 'Daytonas' produced ( the most  by far for any Ferrari at the time ), 122 were genuine 'Spyders', making them relatively rare and valuable. However, during the '80s many more than 122 Berlinettas were converted to convertibles ( no pun intended ), some fastidiously, others poorly & unscrupulously amid much fraud and skull duggery involving the 365 GTB/4 series, consequently the whole Daytona market experienced a rather drastic reduction in prices, interest and exposure.

Having seen one in '65, you can be confident that you are one of very few who can be absolutely certain you saw a 'real' Daytona Spyder'.

Lovely, and as soon as I saw the title I knew I could look forward to one of your photos.

Then there was the black Spyder on Miami Vice, which they destroy in a later episode, to be replaced by a white Testarossa .  Fortunately, the Spyder was only a faux Ferrari - A rebodied Corvette.
