The viewfinder gives a large clear image. Reminds me of using the ground glass screen on early SLRs (showing my age ...) Philip Sounds quite similar to my experience with a 1972 Summilux 35mm f/1.4 at lens openings between f/2.8 and f/5.6. Wider open than that, and for more precise critical focus, I use magnification. The old 'Lux wide open and down to f/2 has a lovely touch of softness that is kinda like fitting a Zeiss Softar I filter: detailing within a gentle sharpness falloff outside the edges, which makes it hard to focus accurately at those apertures without magnification (but produces lovely results!). G Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
