I had already shared my first impressions about this lens some time ago.

I tested it a couple of times on a Fuji X-T4 and I could tell it was really really sharp, particularly in the center. I could really tell the difference between images taken with this lens and images shot with my (also beloved by me) Fujinon lenses and everything was nice but I was a little disappointed after being biased by Mr. Rockwell´s statements about this lens... BUT I just got the Leica SL2 and... Wow! I am starting to agree much more with Ken´s take on this one.

Still have lots of trying and testing to do but my first impressions with the Summaron and the SL2 are kind of surprising for me after seeing how GREAT this lens behaves on the SL2. It´s almost as it is a different lens from what I have seen on my Fuji back then. I am really really excited to have this one in my collection now that I made the switch. I also got the SL Summicron 35mm f2 ASPH as a kit and I have to say that at least at a first glance I find both of them to be very very close in IQ. Of course a lens like the SL will offer all the benefits and specs of modern lenses but I am glad to be able to choose between the SL´s beautiful clean look and the beautiful character of the Summaron.

Not bad for an old tiny lens : f/2.8 (strong vignetting) and f/5.6

focus on the flower (hibiscus) the most to the right

Leica M11

When I test-shot a demonstrator FLE at a Leica dealer, in June 2023, I found it to be a quite “characterful” lens, itself, when compared to my Zeiss Distagon 35mm f/1,4 ZM. (I was actually at the dealer to test-shoot a mid-Sixties Summilux-M 35mm Version II, that was available, at the time, which I did not buy.) I have never test-shot with a Summaron 35mm f/2.8 lens. I do believe that it makes sense to have two or more lenses, in the same focal length, each with different “character.”

This Summaron 35mm is not a-lens-to-do-everything.

Though this is one of the most "kept secret", so reasonable pricing.

Choose with care, as this old lens could be "butchered" in the past.

...

an idea of "flare"
