budjames Posted October 27, 2019 Share #5 Posted October 27, 2019 No mention of GPS receiver in the new SL2. I hope this is there because I find it super convenient on my SL. But the Lumix bodies don’t have it either. Maybe the SL2 will be compatible with the Visoflex 020. 😁

sillbeers15 Posted October 27, 2019 Share #9 Posted October 27, 2019 (edited) Or the GPS can as a add on within the vertical grip, like for the M240. Edited October 27, 2019 by sillbeers15
scott kirkpatrick Posted October 27, 2019 Share #10 Posted October 27, 2019 GPS on my SL takes a minute or so to get locked in. GPS on the VF20 and an M10 can take 3-4 minutes or never get a location. With the S1 I use my phone. It almost always has its location within a few second. The connection is automatic and doesn't turn the power-hungry wifi on until you need it. That's what I'm expecting.
marcolinger Posted October 27, 2019 Share #11 Posted October 27, 2019 I can not imagine SL 1 having one and SL2 not !

budjames Posted October 27, 2019 Share #13 Posted October 27, 2019 It's starting to sound like the SL2 is a Panasonic S1R, at twice the price and with an import tariff. We shall see. bags27 Posted October 27, 2019 Share #16 Posted October 27, 2019 Why does the debate over whether the SL2 has or does not have a GPS suddenly make it a Panasonic clone? We do know that it has the Maestro III processor. That alone suggests a significant change for Leica. The OP linked to a site that reads: "The details in the images that I took with a couple of SL primes are insane! Definitely medium format territory.” So, is that what someone might also say of the Panasonic IQ? The gap between what we know and don't know is just pure speculation without any basis.

We are assuming that because the ugly hump that housed the GPS chip in the SL is missing that the SL2 doesn’t have it. But Bernard could turn out to be right. vor einer Stunde schrieb bags27: The OP linked to a site that reads: "The details in the images that I took with a couple of SL primes are insane! sillbeers15 Posted October 28, 2019 Share #18 Posted October 28, 2019 I would rather not have GPS on SL2 if it robs too much power for WiFi as I rather have a much better AF.

Of all the ‘information’ on that site I thought that was the funniest one. You're welcome. As you might have read, my 'information' came from a phone call where I spoke with someone that used the camera for a short while. His quote about the medium format thing is a quote, based on what I just described. The camera hasn't been announced yet, so what do you expect? If you want to have access to more free information on an add-free site where a lot of spare time goes into, you're welcome to visit 'that site'.
