Pelesit Posted October 2, 2019 Share #1  Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all,  I’m thinking about buying an M4 in A-/A-B condition (not sure if boxed). Since I have no idea for how much they are currently being sold, I wanted to get an estimation from you guys in order to get a better sense. I can buy anywhere in the UK or Western Europe in case prices fluctuate by geography.  Is there anything I‘d need to pay attention to (i.e. common issues)? Thanks, Paul  Edited October 2, 2019 by Pelesit
Advertisement Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Hi Pelesit, Take a look here Fair price for a M4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted October 2, 2019 Share #2  Posted October 2, 2019 Just buy from a respected dealer. ffordes, Red Dot Camera, Meister Camera, etc. I'm sure our members will come up with many other recommendations. Don't enter the jungle of private Internet sales unless you know exactly what you are doing.
Pelesit Posted October 2, 2019 Author Share #3  Posted October 2, 2019 Thank you. Only Meister has one there currently, but it’s quite pricy and I feel like they are asking for too much.  Does anyone have a view?  https://www.meister-camera.com/de/secondhandproduct/leica-m4-chrom-
pedaes Posted October 2, 2019 Share #4 Â Posted October 2, 2019 Some cheaper options here. This guy is sound as far as I know. https://www.jkcameras.co.uk/leica-bodies-c-1/
LucisPictor Posted October 2, 2019 Share #5 Â Posted October 2, 2019 The M4 is surprisingly expensive today.
Pelesit Posted October 2, 2019 Author Share #6  Posted October 2, 2019 Thank you. I still find the price quite high from Meister. I found a comparable on from another reputable buyer for 1300 and 1800Euro boxed, is that a price range that is reasonable?
pedaes Posted October 2, 2019 Share #7  Posted October 2, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Your asking an impossible question, as we do not know the condition in any detail and it is what it is worth to you.

Not cheap certainly but the condition of the camera looks unusually fine for its age and Meister have overheads to cover. If you consider that a new silver M-A (the closest equivalent you can buy new) is €4,350 from the same shop, the M4 looks fairly priced. Do Meister provide a decent warranty? logan2z Posted October 2, 2019 Share #12  Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) FWIW, I paid $1200 for my near mint M4 just over a year ago. No box but the manual and body cap were included. I purchased the camera from Ken Hansen and had it CLAd by YYE for about $150, if memory serves.   Edited October 2, 2019 by logan2z

Don't be fooled by exterior condition as what's inside is more important. Buying from a seller on eBay with good rating then getting it CLA'd has worked for me with my M2, M3 and M4, never paying more than $800 for any of them. sblitz Posted October 4, 2019 Share #14  Posted October 4, 2019 I have bought most of my used Leica cameras and lenses (many more lenses than cameras) at Leicashop in Vienna. To the US at least they absorb the shipping fee if the bill comes out to more than 500 Euros which is never a problem with Leica equipment. I found their prices and descriptions fair. As Jap noted above, I would never buy privately on the internet.
