Advertisement Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Hi patashnik, Take a look here *4* New Summarits. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted August 2, 2007 Share #42 Posted August 2, 2007 Carsten, there's a €500 discount if you buy all 4... €4250. I'm wondering whether these lenses are another reason for the MATE's demise. The 28/2.8, 35/2.5 and 50/2.5 give you at least a stop extra speed for only a little more. Figure 1400+1250+1000-155 = €3495, just €500 more than the MATE, good value for an extra Leica stop/stop and a half.
luigi bertolotti Posted August 2, 2007 Share #43 Posted August 2, 2007 Zeiss is going to take the hit but not CV. ...I agree...CV has 12/15 that are an unbeatable proposal... and their 35-75-90 are priced hard... I can imagine the discussions which shall arise confronting AT SAME STOPS the 1,2 and 1,7 CV 35s vs. the new Leica 35 2,5... and CV 90 is named "APO"... and CV 75 seem to remember about 1/3 priced than new Leica... Just fro chatting... the used Leitz lenses market will move in some direction...
brianv Posted August 2, 2007 Share #44 Posted August 2, 2007 I'm very pleased to see this from Leica. More affordable lenses. Now if they bring out a Digital Leica CL to go with them...
Rona!d Posted August 2, 2007 Share #45 Posted August 2, 2007 Ah Ah Ah... I WROTE IT ! Sorry, Lugi, on the factory floors they call it the "Guy Mancuso-line"
Guest Motivfindender Posted August 2, 2007 Share #46 Posted August 2, 2007 - Lens hoods as accessories 200 Euro each???
Jack_Flesher Posted August 2, 2007 Share #47 Posted August 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Nothing wrong with "slow" lenses for landscape or travel work, or even a rarely needed focal lenth. And frankly, f2.5 isn't really all that slow with a usable ISO 640 available. I say good on Leica for releasing these!
luigi bertolotti Posted August 2, 2007 Share #48 Posted August 2, 2007 Anyone interested in a pre-ASPH 35mm Summicron? Come on, I'm selling my "King of Bokeh"! That 35mm Summitar is mine! Prices of good ol' Summarons will sink...and for pre-asph Summicrons 35... better to wait for tests on the new lenses...
luigi bertolotti Posted August 2, 2007 Share #49 Posted August 2, 2007 200 Euro each??? I hope not so stupid they are... surely 3rd parties are already thinking of something...
sdai Posted August 2, 2007 Share #50 Posted August 2, 2007 Just fro chatting... the used Leitz lenses market will move in some direction... All helps good economy, for those who plan to buy these Summarits, now it's time to dump your luxes and crons.

Kent10D Posted August 2, 2007 Share #53 Posted August 2, 2007 This is very good news. If these lenses are spot-on out of the box (or velour pouch), and they aren't impossible to find once they're released, then I will have to give them some serious consideration. I currently have seven lenses that I use with my M8, and a grand total of one of 'em is a Leica. The rest are Zeiss and CV. There would have been more Leica lenses in my collection if it weren't for the fact that the several that I tried, with intent to buy, just didn't focus properly. When I buy a lens I want to stick it on the camera and use it, not send it off somewhere to be fixed. Perhaps these new lenses will fill the confidence gap. luigi bertolotti Posted August 2, 2007 Share #54 Posted August 2, 2007 Sorry for continuing to post... but is a VERY IMPORTANT announcement... I read German very bad... but I seem they have not mentioned at all the UVIR issue... clearly they haven't found the way to "embed" it... shall the filter be delivered together with...? Could be fine against CVs... which need filter AND BM adapter AND 3rd party coding (for what it counts for 35 on...)
blakley Posted August 2, 2007 Share #55 Posted August 2, 2007 Google translation of the page here indicates some interesting details: metal lenscaps all-metal hoods available as accessories lenses available in sets of 2, 3, or 4 (apparently at further discount vs. lenses bought individually)
sdai Posted August 2, 2007 Share #56 Posted August 2, 2007 I guess Leica is planning a true zoomer just like the W8 to replace the M8. These Summarits are just not slow enough based on Hank's standard.
manolo Posted August 2, 2007 Share #57 Posted August 2, 2007 could it be that you exchange just the front part in the 50 & 35? It also looks as colapsable hoods.
booggerg Posted August 2, 2007 Share #58 Posted August 2, 2007 Leica is trying to compete with the CV 35 /2.5 pancake II with this new lens... interesting.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted August 2, 2007 Share #59 Posted August 2, 2007 Sorry, Lugi, on the factory floors they call it the "Guy Mancuso-line" That's right they threw some Italian in the name. LOL
rosuna Posted August 2, 2007 Share #60 Posted August 2, 2007 6 lens elements in 4 groups. It sounds like classic Double-Gauss objectives. The new Summarit could retire the 50mm Elmar and the 50mm Summicron.
