Hello, Jaap,

If we can use chimpanzee DNA instead of monkey DNA we find that: The time when chimpanzees do silly things like you have written about above: Is when there is an OVER abundance of whatever it is (ie: Bananas) that is right in front of them.

When bananas are available in reasonable amounts chimpanzees are usually reasonably reasonable in their utilization of them.

Best Regards,

Michael

Did the bananas in the Chimpanzee tests have red dots?

Indeed, more so than human beings. At least they don't destroy their habitat.

Hello Jaap,

People have the ability to modify the Planet's environment for mammals, reptiles, fish, birds, etc. more than other mammals do. 1 of the problems with having this ability is that this ability to modify does not come with an instruction manual. Or an Oversight Board that is there to protect the Planet from over utilization to the point where the Planet can no longer heal itself.

When the Planet is effected to the point where it cannot return itself to what it was before, or modify itself to adapt to the new circumstance: Change happens. Not always in a manner that the mammals who are changing it can predict or control. And, not always for the best.

Unnecessarily sad.

Best Regards,

Michael

Hello Alan,

No red dots.

Just bananas brought in by the truckload & put in front of a community of chimpanzees who were living a nice chimpanzee life. The down side of what happened was so severe that the banana pile had to be taken away & the experiment ended. It took an extended time period for the chimpanzee community to rebuilt its relationships internally.

Best Regards,

Michael

The tariffs apply to lenses, not cameras.

Jeff

I read it as cameras were included. If just includes lens only then it will push the up the prices for glass. How do you think it will affect the used market?

I guess if I'm in the market for new lens better go for it before 18, Oct.

On the original topic, here in Australia I have had the SL since its early availability. I was later irritated as I imagine other owners were too to see the price drop significantly. It seemed so un-Leica for the price to go down 🧐

Yesterday I checked again on availability of the SL Summicron 35, (still none) from the authorised dealer I use and saw that the SL selling price has dropped much further. Here now in fact the SL with the 24-90 is offered for about what the camera only originally sold for.

In comparison, the Summilux M 35 ASPH now lists for about 50% more than originally while the 24-90 is about the same.

Are you planning to purchase from a US dealer? The tariffs due to go into effect on October 18 are levied on products imported into the US, not on products (lenses, in this case) exported from Germany to anywhere else. Depending on how much Leica USA and individual US dealers currently have in inventory, or on the way from Wetzlar, there likely won't be any immediate price increases after Friday.

@frame-it Thanks for the link!

@Chuck Albertson Yes, was looking to purchase before the tariff took place a new lens. Have reached out to couple dealers in the US and waiting for responses. The US market is closes market for me to purchase Leica gear. I get there more often other countries. Thanks

I guess the other question would be how much it affect the second hand market in the US?
