stephengv Posted September 18, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I process my files using Lightroom Classic with my Macbook Pro or Imag. But its cumbersome. I was thinking of other means to process my photos. Anyone use Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC on the ipad as a way of editing photos? I think the ipad is a more convenient tool to edit photos, but can it match image processing of a regular laptop? Can I work interchangeably with a laptop and ipad? Note: I do very basic editing, mostly basic adjustments and gradients.
Advertisement Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Hi stephengv, Take a look here Editing with an ipad. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
zeitz Posted September 18, 2019 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2019 This is an interesting question. The whole strategy for Lightroom CC (not Classic) is to allow editing on iPhone, iPad and iMac seamlessly. Apple independently has tools to sync files across these platforms. An iPad version of Photoshop also is promised. I assume the situation is similar in the Windows world. I hope others who are using these tools will reply with their experiences. I can't decide whether to get an iPad or not; maybe Sidekick in Catalina will push me over the edge.
prk60091 Posted September 18, 2019 Share #3 Posted September 18, 2019 there is already a version of Photoshop (not at all equal to the desktop) for ios. i have used both the LR and Photoshop versions on my ipad ... i thought but for the subscription model of the application -- it produced as fine a product as anything else... i moved on to others which develop my images just as well on a non-subscription basis (eg: RawPower) (the developers were former Apple Aperture engineers).
Guest Posted September 19, 2019 Share #4 Posted September 19, 2019 I do not have an iPad but an ASUS laptop. I calibrated the laptop's display an had to find out, that the colour space is considerably smaller than sRGB. I wonder, if iPad and similar devices suffer from the same problem. If so, I would not use them for image processing since one is flying in the dark. Hermann-Josef
jaapv Posted September 19, 2019 Share #5 Posted September 19, 2019 AFAIK Retina screens are 66% of Adobe RGB, which covers sRGB reasonably well.Basically it covers DCI-P3. It is not optimal for photo-editing, but workable. Take care of you blues
digger1914 Posted September 19, 2019 Share #6 Posted September 19, 2019 If you want to look beyond the Adobe world you could consider Affinity. Their iPad version is amazingly powerful.
