I liked my 1956 Canon 35mm lens. It is so unobtrusive people start to smile:

It has a slight yellow cast from radioactive glass, and a pleasant low contrast; so it shows Jaap's new Leica Safari shirt quite well:

M240, 35mm Canon F2.8 LTM. As you can see, for Jaap this might be only a lens :)

Quite a surprise they pack the shirt with a Safari M10. Just to put you with both feet on the ground again? 😇

As long as it is attached onto a Leica camera,  Jaap will always smile 🙂

Two pictures of the side of the music hall  - the black is a sound absorbing treatment. And they placed the waste bin there just for the compo.

Tilburg was very pleasant, people relaxed and easy to relate to. Often they just started a conversation with us - or might better say - with Paul, who seems to know everyone. Such as waitresses = former students. In Silver Effects:

So I met this lady who wanted me to take a picture of her new watering can with colourful flowers. They really match her skirt.

I should have asked her to wrap it around her neck for a really nice picture, but alas, such wit always comes too late

Good stuff Maarten and Albert. I think "waargebeurd" is a nice catch and that monochrome portrait of me is very nice.

Good people shots Maarten, the "willing model" really looks like the friendly person he was when we talked to him.

Nice selection Paulus, a joy to watch our whole day unfold.

A few more from me

I know it's cheesy to do selective colour PP, but I couldn't resist 😳

Great how you saw they were from a secret flower pot society. I see how their fingers are still red from playing with the terracotta ceramics.☺️

Tilburg has nice and special architecture, and we were guided along many of them.

I reached to top , just a matter of pointing your camera high enough 😉

Btw, this building was described by our guide as "a high rise with bird cages hanging on the side" 😁

Part of the LocHal was meticulously restored, but in some places the original patina remained

Yes, much better than its reputation. And a great university to boot.

My photos seem less saturated here on LUF then what I see on my computer. Here's a test with one of them by direct linking from SmugMug:

One can see, that the boy drinking Heineken in the picture is not an original inhabitant of Tilburg. They are used to the better belgian and tilburgian beers.
just the same way a inhabitant of Antwerp can spot an Dutchmen from miles☺️

And the girl seems to be drinking Desperados 🤨

And you probably know the joke about the similarity between Heineken and making love in a canoe? If you don't I can give you the anwer in a Private Message, since it's not suitable for the open forum 🤭

I was surprised by the Hanami-style sitting in the park: small groups with a plaid. Though no cherry-blossoms to be seen.

Is this a left-over from Covid? New ways of socialising have slid into society. . .

The bikes are student bikes. You can recognise them on the blue tire.
a student can lease them fof €10,- a month. If it’s broken or stolen, they swap the  bike for another one. The rental company name is” swapfiets” as is written on the orange part of the bike.

Currently, I'm driving a Swapfiets. Since it is a long time since I was a student, I pay 20 EUR / month but get a 7-speed transmission. I have rented it until Shimano manage to supply spare parts for my transmission (waiting since end of March, my workshop tells me one part is still missing). If I calculate the maintenance fees for my normal bike (I live in the middle of a city, it is my main means of transport, so it gets some mileage), my regular bicycle costs roughly the same to run, plus the purchasing price. It is more fun to drive, though, Swapfiets are designed to be used by the most neglectful drivers, for obvious reasons.

If it is stolen and you can show the key, you pay a nominal fee. If you don't have the key, you pay for the bicycle.
