mmradman Posted September 11, 2019 Share #2  Posted September 11, 2019 Which tube did you use, #16469 (OUFRO?) or Macro Adaptor?
albertknappmd Posted September 11, 2019 Share #3 Â Posted September 11, 2019 The macro world is very amenable to the M. I recently bought the macro filters but have yet to try them. This will stimulate me. Albert

vanGeist Posted September 11, 2019 Share #5  Posted September 11, 2019 Macro photography usually begins at 1:1 ratio. This combo looks just like a neat way to overcome the limited close focusing distance on rangefinder optics.

Actually the focus range is extremely limited so focused is best done by moving lens and camera back and forth. Of course the whole setup only works with Liveview. I’ve used OUFRO (also 10mm) a lot together with Elmar 24 for flower close ups and it works really well. The good thing about these adapters is that you can just carry one in your pocket for some quick and dirty close up shots. For real macro, you should use something else, like Visoflex and Elmar 65 (highly underrated combination, also works both in the digital and analog realm), or R-adapter with Macro Elmarit 60 (awesome lens!) or the ultimate macro lens (in terms of IQ, a bit heavy to use) - Apo Macro Elmarit 100. To be quite frank, real macro is easier done on a SL or any other DSLR, but there are still possibilities with Leica M.

Well… when REAL macro means bellows tripod etc... I'm not so straight on the assessment that SL and DSLR are DEFINITELY better  than a "modern" M (M10) :  you can enjoy the "double view" of reflex (with a venerable Visoflex) plus a decent EVF... it's anyway a not "quick taking" environment with any system… you can adapt to it any lens you like, from native Elmar 65 to Macro Elmarit 100, to enlarger lenses, micro lenses… and the M meter is sufficiently up to the task : probably, (but I haven't direct experience, as a M only user), the advanced metering systems of some DSLR are the real plus over M : but once again , in such a no quick context, 2 or 3 more pictures at slightly different exposures aren't a problem (i often do this, with my M).
