When shooting with an M lens on the SL camera, once you compose your shot, "tap" on the rear "joystick" and this will zoom in for more accurate focusing. Once your shot is composed, you can move the focus dot around a bit and hit an exact focus spot and then take the picture without having to recompose. With the 0.95 lens, if you focus and then recompose just slightly it will throw off the focus point a bit. I hope this made sense. ha Enjoy! Yeah, I figured that out immediately. Great feature. Thanks for suggesting it though. Regards, Bud James Please check out my fine art and travel photography at www.budjames.photography or on Instagram at www.instagram.com/budjamesphoto. Advertisement Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 Hi budjames, Take a look here Used SL and 24-90 (mint) from Leica SoHo, NYC. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
budjames Posted September 17, 2019 Author Share #22 Posted September 17, 2019 Ok, I couldn't let a great deal pass. This evening I ordered the used 90-280 lens from Leica SoHo that they had advertised on their web site. When I called, I was told that the one advertised was just sold. For the same price, they sold me the store demo that is in new condition with the box, warranty, etc. I saved over $900 over the cost of a new one. Now I'm done for a while. I have to give my credit card a break.:) Regards, Bud James Please check out my fine art and travel photography at www.budjames.photography or on Instagram at www.instagram.com/budjamesphoto.

budjames Posted September 17, 2019 Author Share #24 Posted September 17, 2019 (edited) I asked my contact at the Leica SoHo store when the SL2 will be out. He has little official information, however, he thinks that it will be announced in Oct. and start shipping in Nov or Dec. They don't expect to have stock until next year. I put my name on his list, however, with all of the issues with the new Q2, I might wait to actually buy one. I definitely want to see on in person before or if I do trade in my SL for one. For me DR and quality of the files are the most important criteria. IBIS and AF performance come second. Haptics and design third. Price fourth, because it will be bloody expensive anyway.

tom0511 Posted September 19, 2019 Share #29 Posted September 19, 2019 I have used my Q2 for some time now...what are the issues exactly?
spersky Posted September 20, 2019 Share #30 Posted September 20, 2019 I have a general question. It seems that it is the glass that makes the images so amazing, so why not get a comparable body that is a lot cheaper that can use the excellent Leica glass? Like a Lumix S1R. I have been debating this issue for a long time and still have not purchased the Leica system either M or L mount because I just cannot bring myself to buy a digital body at those prices when much cheaper alternative with much better features are already released. It seems that it is the glass that is the most important aspect now in digital photography and the camera body is almost like the accessory that allows the glass to work. Best Regards

Best Regards It's always been that way with photography. Glass > camera body. And Leica has always been more expensive than it's competition. The only way to justify buying a SL over a S1R is if you prefer it's design, size, simplicity, haptics, pride of ownership, and heritage. Most people would rather save their money and purchase a camera body with better features. Unfortunately for my bank account, I appreciate all of the things that shooting with a Leica entails. It may not be a sensible choice but neither is choosing a Porsche over a Nissan GT-R.

The lens have always been better than the body, so I guess that is nothing new. I do love the design and craftsmanship of the Leica bodies although not practical from and price perspective. At least with the glass you where getting something special for the elevated prices. I think the bodies have become more of a commodity almost like computers. Those lenses are timeless though.
