Hi,
I need help
I have 35 simmulix 1.4 ASPH and I was not really happy regarding the sharpness!!! When I take photos of trees that are 30 meters away, I cannot see sharp image. Also, when I take photos of my children, where they are near me, I cannot see the details of their skin and not sharp image.
How can I solve this problem?

Good morning,

sorry to learn about this issue of blurry pictures shot with your LEICA equipment. May I ask for your kind understanding that I’m not able to judge your complaint from the far without seeing some pictures you made. I suppose that you LEICA M-body and the SUMMILUX do not match and our technicians have to adjusted both items together. But this is a guess from me from, as I suppose that you have front- or back-focus, right? Please come back to me with some shots and more details. Furthermore please let me know the country you’re living in, so I’ll guide you if requested to the local LEICA agency in your country. After check I’ll come in touch with you again.
Concerning the lenses I’m not able to give you a convenience answer. Every lens has its own character. I prefer the ELMARIT 2.8/28mm lens for landscape shooting when traveling, but this is my cup of tea. Hoping this short information will be helpful. Looking forward to hear from you again in that matter.

Mit freundlichen Gruessen / kind regards

Should someone please explain;

1- "I suppose that you LEICA M-body and the SUMMILUX do not match and our technicians have to adjusted both items together". Never heard about mismatch between Leica products. My camera is M10

2- "Front or back-focus" How to identify and its relation to sharpness

3- What does cup of tea mean? I have done search BUT regarding the ELMARIT.. Does it mean best choice for traveling ?

“It's better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you'll drift in that direction.” Warren Buffett. You are the best guys who can resolve my concerns :)

Kindest wishes,

Wosam

Both camera and lens should be adjusted to a common standard. In cases like this Leica will request both items to be sent in, to make sure that both are adjusted correctly. Just follow Leica's instructions and they will sort it out for you.

"cup of tea" simply means my preferred choice or my favourite. One of the problems of the English language 😊.

Wosamko, do you often shoot with the summilux wide open?

...Interestingly I start to find the pattern of this comment issue.

Yes, I do! I found the lens acting not normal! It makes more bokeh percentage by stealing sharpness percentage!!! Not Fair inside home! Under sunny day is KIND OF OKAY at F8! Why not fully sharp at what I am focusing! That is weird from Leica "Hand Made" as they said!!!

sorry for the typo "common" but not "comment" issue.

Wide open a 35mm summilux under bright daylight to shoot a subject at 30 meters... why?  Can you confirm it was over exposed or out of focus?  When you say f/8 is ok then of course f/1.4 is washed due to over exposed, can you check the ISO and shutter speed of the photo you took?  Secondly, if your camera is not calibrated correctly then it's could be out of focus but that f/8 gives you wider DOF so you said "kind of okay"  Does your M has EV?  do photos get sharper using EV?  Also, when you say not sharp at 30 meters away, it was not sharp in the LCD display or in your monitor?

The problem described in your email is inconclusive IMO.
