I've bought the Leica SF-40 to use with my Q2.  I was surprised to see that it appears to be identical (on the outside) with my Nissin i40 I use with my Fuji bodies.

Hi,

I've SF-40 and I highly recommend this flash. I bought this one because I read many negative opinions about smaller one SF-26.

My settings:

Q2:

a) ISO Auto (max. ISO depending from light situation), Minimal Shutter Speed 1/125 sec. or 1/250 sec.

b) Flash settings: Flash Mode - On, Flash Sync - Start of Exp.

c) Electronic Shutter - Extended

d) Shutter Speed - Auto

SF-40:

a) TTL or  Manual (M)

Greetings,

I too bought the sf 26 and soon regretted it. Yes it is nice and compact but i could never get it to work consistently as a fill flash. Sometimes it filled, often it didn't. Plus it is too weak. Overpriced piece of junk, an embarrassment for leica IMO. Based on much feedback here I'm thinking of getting the sf  40. I mainly want a dependable consistent flash that gives good fill flash and bounce inside. Everyone still likes the sf 40 right? Anyone want an sf 26 cheap?

Guide number on the SF26 is quite low.  Cycle time is slow.  Leica’s TTL implementation is, in all cases, poor, but the limited capabilities of the SF26 compound this problem.  It’s fine for what it is, but it is not at all versatile or capable.  The only redeeming qualities are it’s size, weight, and simplicity.  No manual mode, so if you are getting a poor result out of TTL you are stuck.

So funny!  You happened to catch my daughter in one of the Union Square shots!  She lives not too far from there and goes to school at the New School.

Get the hell out!! Wow crazy. I took one class at The New School. Back in like 1995. Screenwriting. Great organization.

She loves it there.  Mostly, I think she loves that it’s 2,500 mi away from me!  That, and she loves theater.  NYC is a great place for that, obviously.

Nice shots, by the way. I’m terrible at street photography.  Taking them makes me uncomfortable, and that shows in my pics.  They all feel timid and out of place—or maybe that’s just me again.

When the flash is on, Auto ISO is turned off and the camera takes every shot with ISO 100 unless you manually set a different ISO value. Auto ISO does not work with flash photography.

You're right. Auto ISO doesn't work with flash. I haven't seen it before because I photographed with flash (SF-40) in good light conditions (fill flash). Unexpectedly one function of Auto ISO works with flash: Minimal Shutter Speed.

In my opinion full Auto ISO option with flash should be added in next Q2 software version.

In my Nikon D850 Auto ISO work's very well with flash.

Thank you for correction.
