The Tour Saint-Nicholas and the Tour de la Chaine; fortified towers which protected the entrance to the old port, La Rochelle by suspending a chain between the two in order to prevent any ship from entering - or leaving! - the port without 'proper authority';

It might look like it is a holiday pic from back in the '50s but this was snapped just 3 months ago. I'm not sure whether the strange colour-palette is due to having used 20-y-old outdated film; a small-town processing shop for Dev/Print/Scan or a bit of both?!

The reason I used well-old film is that it was the first roll I was going to put through the 1930 Leica 1(a) to Leica 1(c) conversion I had just acquired and it was the only roll I had at the time. I just intended to check the camera actually worked - hence the 'holiday snap' air. As it happens it all worked fine. Should probably use fresher film the next time but there's something intangible about the look that, gawd help me, I actually like!...

Philip.
